 EM Series electric mandolins

Oldtown Electric Mandolins are probably the only Solid Body Electric Mandolins made today in the arched top, double Florentine cut away, solid body design as was the Gibson EM200 Mandolins of the 1950's.

We could not allow a "Good Design" to just fade away. Our EMs are not just "Tiny Guitars" with mandolin strings on it. They have the Feel, the playability, and same general characteristics that you're already used to playing. Aside from the small increase in weight you'll think your playing an F5 and be perfectly at home on the Oldtown Electric mandolin.

With the same scale length, fingerboard, arched top and overall specifications, we  think you will feel comfortable playing an Oldtown EM Mandolin.

The EM mandolins are available in 4 string configuration. With the same basic specification as the current EM mandolins but with four strings instead of eight. Peghead is scaled down slightly and machines are as shown in this photo of an EM5/4  made in 1985.

EM-12  Dual Source Electric

The Oldtown EM-12,  Electric Mandolin has the same general specifications as the EM-10. The top is internally carved and braced  to provide added acoustic properties for a transducer bridge. The EM-12  features an active transducer/magnetic pickup blending system for the more demanding player. An infinite variety of tones and timbres will give the player the closest replication of the acoustic F-5 available on the market without sacrificing that hard driving, sustained electric sound.

This is achieved with the use of both a magnetic pickup and an active transducer and actively blended into a single output.

With onboard mixer,  you can achieve sounds from bluegrass to new grass, by blending the passive magnetic pickup with a new-generation active electric transducer.

In mono mode, the active transducer bridge and passive magnetic pickup are mixed and a standard guitar cable is used. In stereo mode the out-put from each source can be sent to separate amps.  Shaped HS case extra.
