Ojibwa was first stationed at Boston MA remaining there until 1954 when she transferred to the Great Lakes and ported at Buffalo, NY being used as a SAR, LE and icebreaking vessel. . 29 November 1951 she assisted after a collision between MV Ventura and FV Lynn near Boston. 4 may 1965 she sustained an engine causality during ice breaking operations and was towed to port by cutter Kaw. January 1868 she was used experimenting with a ice braking plow. April 1980 she was converted for salt water ops to be transferred to Yorktown as a training vessel but this was ultimately canceled. Decommissioned April 1980
